Tips To Save On Your Water Bill.

Living in a mobile home community can have its perks. You may own your home, but you are still renting the lot your home sets on. Most of the times in a mobile home community you are billed for the water usage you use during each month. In this article here are some tips on how to save on your water bill.

#1 Turn Off Faucet While Brushing Your teeth.

When brushing your teeth turning the water off in between brushing and rinsing can save you a lot on your bill. Just by turning off the tap while you brush your teeth in the morning and before bedtime, you can save up to 8 gallons of water! That adds up to more than 200 gallons a month. You can also fill a cup up with water to rinse your mouth and that will also help conserver your water usage.

#2 Only run the washing machine and dishwasher when you have a full load.

This seems like common sense at first glance. If you run your dishwasher, your washing machine, or your dryer with only half a load of clothes or dishes, you are losing out in terms of efficiency.

Even if you run the machine with small load settings, the machine is still using most of the water and most of the energy of a full load.

Let us look at some actual numbers. A typical household can save 3,400 gallons of water a year by running full laundry loads instead of half loads, according to the U.S Department of Energy Given a national average of $1.50 per 1,000 gallons of water, that is an annual savings of $5.15 from just the water in the washing machine over the course of a year.

#3 Limit Your Shower Times

This seems obvious, but on average, every minute of shower time equates to 2 gallons of water, and the shower of an average American lasts 8 minutes. If you shower daily, cutting back your shower time by just a minute could save sixty gallons of water per month.

Some easy tricks for ensuring shorter showers are to set a timer using your phone or even an old-fashioned egg timer. Creating a 7-minute shower playlist can jazz up your morning ritual and serve as a useful reminder of when your shower time is nearing an end.

#4 Fix Leaky Faucets

Leaky faucets may not seem like obvious culprits after all, they are only losing water a drop at a time. But as months go by, those drips add up. A single drop per second from a leaky faucet can lead to 2,082 gallons of wastewater each year! All you need to do is head to your local hardware store for a repair kit and that repair could save you a lot over time.

These are just some starting tips to help you save on your monthly water bill. If you follow some of these tips you are bound to save a few dollars a month.
